Sizing

How to size

In order to buy a set, you must choose a size. Choosing the right size is very important as you want the set to properly fit your nails, so let's look at the options for how to measure your nails.

Option 1 - the coin method

Step 1

  1. Place a common coin, such as a British 2 pence coin or a 1 euro coin, on a table (or another flat surface).
  2. Place your left hand next to the coin with all your fingers (except the thumb) pressed flat. Alternatively, you can do each finger individually.
  3. Take a flat, bird's-eye view (straight-on) photo of your hand and the coin from above, like so:

4. Next, place your left thumb flat next to the coin and take another flat, straight-on photo, as shown:

5. Do the same with your right hand, like so:

Step 2

  1. When placing your order, select the "custom" size option and, in the special instructions box at checkout, enter "coin method used, sending you an email from [your email address]".
  2. After placing your order, send all the photos of your fingers next to the coin to my email address: ella.bermingham.nails@gmail.com
  3. I will reply to your email to let you know if the photos are suitable or if I need additional ones, so please keep an eye out for my response, as delays in replying may lengthen the delivery time of your nails.

Option 2 - the tape method

Step 1

  1. Get some sellotape and lay it across the widest part of your nail, pressing down so as to include your nail's curvature. Take a pen and mark the edges of the widest part of your nail on the tape.
  2. Remove the tape and place it on a flat surface. Using a ruler or measuring tape, measure from the very outside edge of one line to the very outside edge of the other line.

  3. Write down the width of each nail in millimetres as follows:

Left Hand: Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring, Pinky; Right Hand: Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring, Pinky.

For example -

LH: 15.5 mm, 13.5 mm, 14.5 mm, 12.5 mm, 10.5 mm; RH: 15.5 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 12.5 mm, 10.5 mm

Step 2

Once you have all your nail measurements in millimetres, you can use the chart below to work out your nail sizes (00-12) and the corresponding size to select when ordering your press-ons (XS, S, M, L, XL, or custom (more information below)).

Things to do for the tape method:

  • Make sure to measure both hands, as your fingernails could be different sizes on each hand. If this is the case, select the "custom" size option and in the special instructions box at checkout enter your sizes as follows - Left Hand: Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring, Pinky; Right Hand: Thumb, Index, Middle, Ring, Pinky. For example -
    • LH: 2, 5, 4, 6, 8; RH: 2, 5.5, 4.5, 6, 8 OR
    • LH: 15.5 mm, 13.5 mm, 14.5 mm, 12.5 mm, 10.5 mm; RH: 15.5 mm, 13 mm, 14 mm, 12.5 mm, 10.5 mm
  • If your nail measurements don't fit any of the standard sizes shown (XS, S, M, L or XL), select the "custom" size option and in the special instructions box at checkout enter your sizes as explained above.
  • If a nail is in-between sizes (i.e. 13.2 mm), it's better to round up (i.e. to 13.5 mm), as you can always file down a press-on, but you can't make a press-on bigger.
  • Measure your nails twice and as carefully as possible for the best accuracy. I am not responsible for any incorrectly measured nails.
  • If you think you have entered the incorrect sizes after ordering, or if you are struggling with your measurements, send me a message on Instagram and we can try to sort the problem out.

Things to remember:

  • If a size is not shown, it might mean that I don't have that size available. Please send me a message on Instagram before you order to double check.
